If you are a fan of carbonated beverages, especially in summer, I recommend you try this easy recipe for an Iced Tea Soda. Yes, I know, you can find many of them already made in the supermarket now, but do we really know what they contain? Certainly, not quality Tea. Making it at home guarantees, moreover, that you will have a fizzy drink without artificial flavors and dyes. Iced Tea Soda consists of only two main ingredients: Iced Tea and carbonated water and can be made with any Tea.
Which carbonated water to use?
Different types of carbonated water exist! Natural or synthetic carbonated water can be produced by adding carbon dioxide (CO2).
Let’s look at the 4 most common options.
Sparkling Water
Natural carbonation occurs in sparkling water. Minerals including calcium, salt, and magnesium are present.
Carbonated water
Carbonated water is made by adding carbon dioxide (CO2). It contains no minerals and sometimes you can find added natural flavors.
Club Soda
Club soda is water that has been artificially carbonated. It contains added minerals. These additives may include salt and baking soda.
Tonic water
Tonic water resembles soda more than regular water. In addition to carbonated water, quinine and sugar are frequently added. The flavor could be bitter. Mostly used mixed with alcohol to make cocktails, for Iced Tea Soda is not very suitable. Although it depends on taste.
Iced Tea Soda is great with both flavored and pure Teas.
Also try adding herbs, such as mint, or citrus slices, berries or other fruits to your Iced Tea Soda!
If you enjoy drinking tea with milk, you can garnish it with whipped cream.
Ingredients
- 240 ml Iced tea (made by cold brewing at least 4h in the refrigerator)
- 240 mlSparkling water
- Agave syrup (optional)
Steps
Fill a glass with ice and add 1 teaspoon of Agave syrup if you like it sweet; I do not add any sweetener, as you know by now.
Add the Cold Tea adjusting the amount to your liking, start with 3-4 tablespoons, in case you can add more Tea later . Use a maximum of 60ml per glass.
Fill the glass with 60ml of sparkling water.
Stir lightly to mix the Tea with the sparkling water. Be careful, over-mixing the drink will reduce the carbonation. Garnish to taste.
Your Iced Tea soda is ready and with it the heat will be more bearable.
Enjoy!
